BK Food: shelves visible in real time

  • Tunisia · Canned tuna · Merchandising
  • Since 2024 · 12 users, including 10 merchandisers (100% of the team)
  • 120 supermarkets tracked

Key figures

1,450
store visits a month, all tracked
Real time
field information reported instantly, instead of 2 to 5 days before
−30%
fewer out-of-stocks on tracked items (about 9% before, 6% after)
60
corrective actions a month: restocking, price corrections, promotions put back on display

The customer

BK Food produces La Goulette, Sidi Ali and Al Fakhama canned tuna, as well as sardines, in Sousse, Tunisia, for the local market and for export.

Its brands win or lose on the shelf, in supermarkets, where availability and visibility drive sales.

The challenge

Merchandisers wrote visit reports on paper and communicated through instant messaging. Information reached head office 2 to 5 days after the visit.

An out-of-stock or a price gap was therefore fixed the following week, if at all.

The solution

Store mapping

All 120 supermarkets are on the map, and visits are planned and tracked.

Configurable field surveys

Prices, shelf space, visibility, promotion and competitor tracking, entered on mobile during the visit.

Shelf photos

Every survey is backed by a photo, available at head office the same day.

Visit tracking and notes

On-site check-in, merchandiser observations and real-time tracking of team activity.

The results

At head office, the trade marketing team follows the merchandising dashboards, updated in real time as soon as the merchandiser finishes a visit. It spots gaps immediately and launches corrective actions, such as displaying a promotion missing in store or restoring the planned shelf space.

About 60 such actions are launched every month, and out-of-stocks on tracked items have dropped by 30%.

“We see the shelves in real time: an out-of-stock or a price gap is handled the same day, not the following week.”

Mohamed Ali Gassara, Trade Marketing Manager, BK Food
